That way you can turn the faucet on out in the yard and control the flow while you are watching the still. You may want to reconfigure your cooling water by putting an adjustable valve in close proximity to your condenser. ![]() As was mentioned earlier the carbonation and the residual sugars in the beer is what contributed to your puke. You had 3 1/2 gallons of 5% after fore shots and tails you would have a realistic potential for about 24 ounces of 100 proof several pints puts you way over that especially with the puke going on. I am ordering a new hydrometer this week, but if I had to guess I'd say the bulk of my hearts is between 130-140 proof.Ī lot of things don't make sense here. My hydrometer is broken, so I was making cuts based on flavor alone, which was fun. So my question is, why did I get so little heads and why did my distillation happen at such a high temp? Is it possible that my still puked up almost the entire heads and foreshots and that's why it almost immediately went to 198 and clean tasting spirit? ![]() I never did notice any oils and I ran it all the way to 210f, at which point it had no burn and tasted really watered down. I kept getting the clean tasting stuff until about 205-206f then started getting solvent flavors and skunk smells so I cut it for feints. Immediately after that the temp rose to around 198 and the flavor cleaned up drastically and I got several pints of what I thought was hearts. Then I got around another 100 ml of stuff with a wonderful bontanical/fruity aroma and it kinda tasted like bannanas. I collected about another 100ml and discarded it. This seemed to do the trick, because immediately the still started performing as I expected, only it went straight to about 196-197f then stabilized. I collect about 100 ml (tossed it out) before it cleared back up then I turned the heat back on as low as it would go. I cut off the propane, cleaned up the mess while I waited for the temp to drop a bit. I walked back and forth twice to get the flow just right, a small drip had began, then the last time I stepped back into my shop the liebig was puking all over the place (i assume it was from the beer foaming) The heat was nearly up to 200f. Once I noticed the slightest bit of vapor exiting the condenser, I then stepped out to the faucet to cut my cooling water on. ![]() I clamped the head onto the kettle and waited for the temp to start rising. Just as it started to boil I cut my heat and let it "smile" as Matthew Rowley puts it. I also threw in some other stuff I had that I wouldn't be drinking: a little bottle of Hennessy, a quarter bottle of red wine, and about a shot of everclear.Įnded up with about 3-3.5 gallons of 5% abv wash. Just because I had about 2.5 cases of cheap light beer left from a party and I don't drink that crap. Visit the official Everclear artist site for more tour details. It was a beer schnapps. The current Summerland Tour dates, which include 15 shows across the United States, is set to include more cities as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted as the year continues. The tour made its debut in 2012 and ran annually through 2016 before taking a year off and returning in 2018. I speak for the whole tour when I say we’re absolutely thrilled and grateful to get back out on the road and perform live again for our fans, friends, and family.”Īlexakis founded the Summerland Tour with Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath. Living Colour, Hoobastank, and Wheatus have always been personal favorites of mine and I am so excited to share the stage with them this summer. “I couldn’t be more proud of this year’s line-up of legendary alternative bands.
