A lot of other mechanics once they are comfortable just tighten most nuts and bolts except for critical engine parts. Service manual list a proper torque setting for every bolt on the car. The service manual clearly shows a hose for my 2007 sti for but the part department of 2 dealers said it doesn't exist even though I had the service manual in hand and showed them the part. I always use new tensioners on interference motors but will compress them in my vice for non interference and haven't had a problem in over 10 years. There is a lot of stuff in the service manual that doesn't have to be followed exactly. hex bar wrench inserted into the stopper pin hole in the cylinder, secure the adjuster rod. stopper pin or a 2mm (0.08 in) (nominal) dia. (2) Slowly move the adjuster rod down with a pressure of 294 N (30 kgf, 66 Ib) until the adjuster rod is aligned with the stopper pin hole in the cylinder.
